In PNG, about 40% of the population lives below the international poverty line of US$2.50/day/person. The rule of thumb is that 20% of the world's population controls 80% of the wealth, while 80% of the population shares 20% of the wealth. The result is poverty for the majority and riches and wealth for a minority. Apart from these emotions, I believe that poverty is the designed result of a structure, with scarcity as the foundation and a group of factors acting as very strong pillars which hold it up, some internal and others external. This belief results either in people being fearful of missing out or being greedy, or both. Interestingly, dimensional poverty is experienced by the majority of the working class.

Actually, the United Nation uses three definitions: extreme poverty relative poverty and dimensional poverty.
